  • Diagnosed with autism, with an accompanying intellectual impairment, at the age of three. Started water exercise at a young age, along with his grandparents, and began attending a swimming school as a fourth-year elementary student. Attended a once-a-week course for children with impairment, until competing in the National Sports Festival for People with Disabilities in Iwate Prefecture in 2016, after which, starting the winter of his first year in high school, he began training six days a week in the competitive course. Transferred to what is now the Setouchi Onsen Swimming School due to the transfer of his coach, and went through rigorous training alongside able-bodied high school students. Made his international debut at 18 years old at the Australia leg of the World Para Swimming World Series. Performed well in the 100m Breaststroke at the 2019 Japan Para-Swimming Spring Meet held the next month, qualifying as a Japan representative for the World Para Swimming Championships in September, where he claimed the championship title with a world record of 1 minute 4.95 seconds in the 100m Breaststroke. This qualified him for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. His goal for the Tokyo Paralympics is to rank highly not just in breaststroke, but in other events like backstroke. Works part-time at the Imabari City Office. (As of October 2019)
