  • In 2012, Maegawa had to amputate her right leg above the knee due to a traffic accident. In 2014, she joined Yamato Tekkyaku Sokokai, a sports team for amputees, where she discovered the joy of running with a prosthesis. At the Indonesia 2018 Asian Para Games, she was a leading athlete and the flag-bearer of the Japanese delegation. She came in 4th place at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games in the long jump event and is hoping to win a medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
