  • Kawamoto was diagnosed with progressive muscular dystrophy when he was around four years old and started playing boccia after a friend introduced him to the sport. He first competed in the BC4 class before switching to the BC3 class when he was 14. In 2016, he competed at an international tournament for the first time. In Japan, he has won the Boccia Japan Championships for three straight years since 2017. He is hoping to win the gold medal at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games together with his mother and assistant, Sachiyo.
