  • Asano began playing table tennis when he was a second-grade elementary school student after his cousin introduced him to the sport. In junior high school, he played as a member of the school’s team. He has also been competing in national para table tennis tournaments since junior high school. He entered Keiho High School, which has a strong table tennis team, where he trained alongside able-bodied athletes to improve his skills. In 2019, he won the Asian Para Table Tennis Championships in singles, pulling off a magnificent international debut. As of April 1, 2020, he ranks No. 9 in the world. He has earned a place on the Japanese delegation to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games under the condition that he receives an international classification. (August 2020)
