  • Esaki currently uses an electric wheelchair after being diagnosed with progressive muscular dystrophy. He began playing boccia in junior high school. After first trying out the sport for fun, he began to compete in tournaments and later won the gold medal at the Dubai 2017 Asian Youth Para Games. He has been a regular representative of Japan since 2018 and is a leader of the BC4 class. He is also on a two-year winning streak at the Boccia Japan Championships. (August 2020)
