  • Was born blind, with almost no vision, due to congenital retinoblastoma. Discovered goalball as a first-year at a school for those with visual impairment. Became a part of the Japan national team for the first time at age 19, and is now the longest-standing member of the team, serving as the team’s emotional center. Known for the stability of his defense across both wings, and for his skill in obfuscating the starting point of his throws for offense. Works to popularize the sport by conducting goalball workshops at schools, etc. Has been named MVP, top scorer, etc., in tournaments in Japan.
