  • Went to see the Suzuka Circuit often as a child, and began competing in kart races in university, with the dream of becoming a professional car racer. However, in February 2016, when he was still a student, he was involved in a motorcycle accident, and had his right leg amputated below the knee. He discovered athletics when he participated in a training session at the Yamato Tekkyaku Sokokai, a circuit association, at his mother’s suggestion. He officially began training in January 2018, and quickly showed his potential in the popular 100m event, gaining attention as a close rival to Keita Sato (Class T64), who holds the Japan record for the event. At the Indonesia 2018 Asian Para Games in November, he set an Asia record in the 100m preliminaries, and won the event. In May 2019, he set a record of 11 minutes 55 seconds at the Shizuoka International Track and Field Meet. He currently trains under Ken Nakata, who oversees many Olympic athletes, and is aiming to compete in the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.
