  • Tozawa was diagnosed with osteosarcoma when she was a fifth-grade elementary school student and had to amputate her left leg at the thigh the next year. She began cycling and later learned about the Para Athlete Scholarship Program available at Nippon Sport Science University (NSSU), which is funded by The Nippon Foundation. This led her to enter NSSU, where she began athletics in earnest. She improved rapidly and continued to produce excellent results in the 100-meter and long jump events. She won a bronze medal at the 2019 World Para Athletics Championships for women’s long jump, qualifying her a member of the Japanese delegation to the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. She has belongs to Fujitsu Track & Field Team since April 2021. (April 2021)
