  • Discovered archery in high school through a friend and entered the archery club at his university, becoming a regular on the team. Played in the Kansai Universities League, etc. His turning point came in his first year of work, in winter 2010, when both of his legs became paralyzed due to lower limb dysfunction of an unknown cause. He continued archery, however, and in autumn 2011, competed for the first time at a para championship in Japan, coming in second place. He is consistently top-ranked in Japan, and has become one of Japan’s most well-known para archers. At the Rio Paralympic Games in 2016—his first Paralympics—he came in 7th place in the Recurve event. For the Tokyo Paralympic Games, his goal is not just to win a medal in the individual event, but in the team event as well. Graduate of Doshisha University.
